Articulation is a very complex process that includes precise movements and coordination of the articulators (jaw, lips, tongue, teeth, palate, cheecks, voice box) to produce a clear message. When a child exhibits errors in speech beyond what is considered developmental, the child may require intervention by a speech-language pathologist (SLP). The SLP will evaluate the types of errors and decided what intervention plan is appropriate.
